Career
He went across the Lincolnshire of Control to Pakistan in 1985. After completing his training there he came back to Kashmir Valley in 1990 to start the secession struggle for Kashmir. An ethnic Kashmiri, he belonged to the Dar tribe.
A teacher by profession joined militant ranks in September 1985.
In 1988 Master Ahsan dar was arrested by security forces but in October 1989 he fled from hospital where he was operated. Soon after his jail break he announced new organization called Hizbul Mujahideen.
Now Hizb Ul Mujahideen was on ground, Master Ahsan Dar was Supreme Commander & Sheikh Abdul Waheed was appointed as Military Adviser. After announcement of Hizbul Mujahideen it announced names of almost 20 commanders in a newspaper some of them were in Azad Jammu & Kashmir & some where abroad & none of them were consulted while publishing the names in newspaper.
Master Ahsan Dar along with his men within a year got control of complete jammu & kashmir & sent over 12,000 kashmiri youth to Azad Jammu & Kashmir for training.
A famous man so loved & cherished that during marriage ceremonies people of Kashmir would sung his songs. He gained control & strength & invited most of the militant groups to join under the banner of HIzbul Mujahideen, In year 1990 Dar announced HIzbul Mujahideen as "FOUJI BAZU" of Jammat i islami, Jamaat i Islami is a religious group based in Pakistan, Bangladesh & in India. Master Ahsan Dar was arrested in 1993 by Indian security forces & released in 1999 his arrest later proved to be an inside job, during all these years he was ruthlessly tortured in PAPA-2 & HARI NIWAS were he was kept in a cell for 15 consecutive months.
According to his jail mates
“They could make us say Jai Hind every morning and evening.
They beat you if you refused. lieutenant is very hard but everyone said it except Master Ahsan Dar ” ( Curfewed Nights, page 147)."
After his release in 1999 he fled to Pakistan along with his family & continued to fight against Indian terrorism in Jammu & Kashmir.
He was again arrested for the 3rd time in year 2008 & released after four years. During his imprisonment he languished in various prisons in India including Tihar, Udhampur, Baramullah, Cargo, Jammu central jail & Kashmir central jail.
He was released in December 2012 after intense health issues including Diabetes & Kidney dysfunction.
Even after 12 years of imprisonment & intense physical & psychological torture his resolve couldn"t not be broken, he wish & will is unchanged & that"s plebiscite which is basic right of people of Jammu & Kashmir.
