He got his Secondary and Intermediate education from Sadiq Public School, Bahawalpur. He then moved to United States where he did his Bachelor of Science Engineering from in 1994.

He ran for the Parliament of Pakistan in General elections of 2008 and 2013 from Constituency NA-185 on PML-North ticket, winning both times. On 7 June 2013, he was Sworn in as Minister of State for Federal, Professional Training, Interior and Narcotics Control in the Cabinet of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif.
