(The book represents a modern treatment of classical contr...)
The book represents a modern treatment of classical control theory and application concepts. Theoretically, it is based on the state-space approach, where the main concepts have been derived using only the knowledge from a first course in linear algebra. Practically, it is based on the MATLAB package for computer-aided control system design, so that the presentation of the design techniques is simplified. The inclusion of MATLAB allows deeper insights into the dynamical behaviour of real physical control systems, which are quite often of high dimensions. Continuous-time and discrete-time control systems are treated simultaneously with a slight emphasis on the continous-time systems, especially in the area of controller design. Instructor's Manual (0-13-264730-3).

( This modern treatment of classical control theory and a...)
This modern treatment of classical control theory and applications is based on the state space approach theory, in which the main control theory concepts are derived using only elementary differential equations and basic linear algebra. Comprehensive in its scope, it emphasizes continuous-time systems but it also examines discrete-time systems. Geared toward advanced undergraduate and graduate courses, it includes real world examples and problems from all areas of engineering that reinforce the theories and demonstrate the practical applications. The International Journal of Robust and Nonlinear Control praised this text as "a good contribution to the modern control systems design" as well as "a source of good ideas leading to applied solutions." MATLAB software is incorporated into examples throughout the book as well as the end-of-chapter problems. Complete proofs of all rules for the root locus technique employ only basic mathematics, and the root locus method serves as the basis for simple and accurate controller design techniques.
