KURBANGALIYEV, Mukhitdin was born on October 26, 1873.
1895 graduate Kazan' Teachers’ Training School.
1895 began to teach at rural Russo-Tatar zemstvo school, then taught Russian and Tatar in Malmyzh (now Kirov Oblast). From 1903 worked in Kazan’, first as teacher then for various newspapers. Helped found schools and shelters for orphans.
After 1917 October Revol taught Tatar and Russian at primary and secondary schools, at schools for adults, teachers’ training courses, and at Kazan’ Teachers' Training Institute. Also head, Chair of Tatar Language, Kazan’ University. From 1940 associate, Tatar Institute of Language, Literature and History.
Member, Tatar Central Executive Committee. Founder-head, Tatar United Labor Schools Board. Deputy chairman, Sciences Center, Tatar People's Commissariat of Education.
Wrote numerous works on Tatar grammar, lexicography and teaching methods. 1918 helped publish first full grammar of Tatar language. 1938 published Tatar syntax textbook for secondary schools, which ran through 20 editions.
Compiled Russo-Tatar and Tatar-Russian dictionaries. Worked on Tatar sci terminology, Tat lit standards, principles of Tatar orthography based on Cyrillic.
