Career
He is disciple of Pandit Arun Kashalkar (Agra-Gwalior Gharana) and also receives taleem from Pandit Sharad Sathe (Gwalior gharana). He is an "A" grade artist of All India Radio. Mukul Kulkarni started learning Hindustani classical vocal at the age of 10 years.
Shri Nishikant G. Paramane (Warananagar, District Kolhapur) laid the foundation for him.
While learning from Shri Paramane, Mukul was awarded a scholarship from Center for Cultural Resources and Training, New Delhi. Then, during Mukul"s engineering studies, he took guidance from Smt Sukhada Kane, disciple of Pandit Limayebuwa and Pandit Kanebuwa.
Smt Sukhada Kane(Kolhapur) guided Mukul systematically and laid a solid foundation. After his engineering studies, Mukul started taking taleem from Doctor Vikas Kashalkar, who guided him through his Master of Arts in Music.
Currently, Mukul Kulkarni is under the able guidance of Pandit Arun Kashalkar of Agra-Gwalior Gharana, disciple of Pandit Gajananbuwa Joshi and Pandit Babanrao Haldankar.
Mukul also trains under Pandit Sharad Sathe of Gwalior Gharana, disciple of Pandit Sharadchandra Arolkar and Pandit Doctorate.V. Paluskar. Mukul Kulkarni is a vocalist of Gwalior-Agra Gharana. Mukul sings khayal, tappa, tapkhayal and has a large repertoire of old bandishes from the Gwalior Gharana.
He is regarded as a grade "A" artist by All India Radio.
Mukul Kulkarni has performed at various places all over India, including Pune, Mumbai, Goa, Ahemdabad, Benares, Kolhapur, Bokaro, and Kochi. He has also toured the United Kingdom twice, performing many concerts as well as teaching, including concerts in Leicester, London, Hertfordshire, and Milton Keynes.
