Munetoshi Konoike was born in 1667. He was the son of Yukimune.

When Munetoshi Konoike came into the family business, and realizing the change in trend, he changed his business and opened an exchange which came soon to be known as Kakeya (bankers to the daimyd).
Later Munetoshi Konoike reclaimed a lot of marshy land on the (Danks of Shinyamato River at a cost of more than 10,000 ryo (unit of money during those days), which became rice paddies of several hundred cho (cho equals approximately 2.45 acres). This came to be called "Konoike Shinden" (1704). Later he got Banzan Kumazawa, the noted Confucian scholar, to draw up a code of rules for his family, which solidified his family's fortunes considerably.
