Myint Myint Aye

Background

Myint Myint Aye was born on November 18, 1977. She represented Myanmar in international athletics during a period when the Southeast Asian Games served as a major regional platform for competition and national representation.

Career

Myint Myint Aye competed primarily in the 800 and 1500 metres. At the 2002 Asian Championships in Colombo, she finished fourth in the 800 metres in 2:06.07 and fifth in the 1500 metres in 4:22.73.

She competed in the 800 metres at the 2003 World Championships in Paris, recording 2:05.41 in the heats. At the 2003 Southeast Asian Games in Hanoi, she won bronze in the 800 metres and silver in the 4 × 400 metres relay for Myanmar. In 2004, she ran 4:18.71 for 1500 metres in Singapore, a personal best.

In 2005, she established her 800-metre personal best and Myanmar national record of 2:01.80 in Yangon. She again represented Myanmar at the World Championships in Helsinki, where she ran 2:08.50 in the 800-metre heats. At the 2005 Southeast Asian Games in Manila, she won bronze in the 800 metres and gold in the 4 × 400 metres relay.

At the 2007 Southeast Asian Games in Nakhon Ratchasima, she won bronze in the 800 metres and silver in the 4 × 400 metres relay. Her later recorded performances included a hand-timed 400 metres of 56.9 seconds in Yangon in 2008 and a marathon time of 2:56:34 at the 2014 Asian Games in Incheon.

• Established a Myanmar national record in the women's 800 metres with a time of 2:01.80 in Yangon on February 13, 2005.

• Represented Myanmar at two World Championships, competing in the women's 800 metres at Paris in 2003 and Helsinki in 2005.
