Elshami was born on April 29, 1970; the son of Zainab Elberry.
Elshami received a Bachelor of Arts degree in International Business from the University of Evansville in 1991.
After earning a degree in 1991, Elshami moved back to Nashville where he took a job as a waiter. Soon thereafter, Stacey was hired as a special-education teacher in Prince George’s County, Maryland—just outside of Washington, DC—and Elshami moved there with her.
Before long, Elshami found employment on Capitol Hill, in the Senate mail room. He also interned for Rep. Bob Clement (D-Tennessee) and Rep. Marjorie Margolies-Mezvinsky (D-Pennsylvania). In 1994 he began working for Senator Barbara Boxer (D-California), eventually becoming her deputy press secretary and deputy communications director.
In 1999 Elshami began his career as a deputy press secretary to Republican Jan Schakowsky. Six years later he became a deputy communications director for Senator Richard Durbin and deputy press secretary to Senator Barbara Boxer. Then in 2007, Nadeam took a position of a deputy communications director for House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi. Since 2011 Nadeam was a communications director, senior advisor and since 2013, the chief of staff for House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi. Since 2017 he has been serving as an executive vice president at Signal Group Consulting, LLC.
Elshami, in 2004, was a communications director for the Up for Victory campaign. He has executed innovative campaigns to persuade congressional, public and media opinions on a range of complex issues that span healthcare, foreign policy, the financial crisis, government shutdown, immigration, consumer protection and other issues.
Elshami is a board member of the Capital Area Immigrant Rights Coalition.
Nadeam Elshami is married to Stacey Elshami. They have three children.
