Nagasunehiko was born about B.C. 660.
He resisted Emperor Jimmu, the first emperor of Japan, in his eastward expedition from Kyushu to Yamato (Nara Prefecture). The emperor’s army marched from Kawachi (Osaka) toward Yamato but was blocked by Nagasunehiko's tribe at Kusaka. So the Imperial Army made a detour via Kii (Wakayama Prefecture) and entered Yamato. After subjugating native tribes there, the emperor’s force attacked Nagasunehiko's tribe. Nigihayabi-no-Mikoto, a descendant of Amaterasu-Omikami (Sun Goddess), who had fought as head of Nagasunehiko’s forces, killed him and surrendered to Emperor Jimmu.
