Bachelor of Science in Chemistry and Physics, Karnataka College, Dharwad, India, 1970. Master of Science in Analytical Chemistry, Karnatka University, Gulbarga, India, 1973. Doctor of Philosophy in Food Science, Mysore University, India, 1988.

Career

From science assistant to scientist E2 Central Food Technology Research Institute, Mysore, 1974—2001, scientist F, since 2001, head department meat, fish and poultry technical, since 2005. Member editorial board Journal Food Science and Technology, 1992-1995. Lecturer department animal science and technical Seoul (Korea) National University, 1993.

Achievements

  • Achievements include development of technology for utilization of food processing waste and low-cost byproducts as a source of protein in preparation of aquaculture feed, technology for the effective utilization of silk worm pupae with special reference to aquaculture feeds, carcass conditioning technique for tenderization of meat from old animals, acid and fermentation ensiling process for preservation of nutrients in soft offals from fish and poultry processing. Improvements in meat texture, production of silage from fish and poultry offals. Patent for process for production of fermented silkworm pupae silage, tenderization of chicken meat, recovery of carotenoids from shrimp waste, low fat burgers, egg loaf, meat marination under pressure, dehydrated meat product, ginger processes in meat tenderization, egg products.
