Career
Alongside this she is well known for her appearance in Nepali music videos. Before embarking on her acting career, she was involved in theater productions and modeling. Shrestha began her film career in 2008 and made her break through playing Reetu in the romantic comedy film Sano Sansar.
She has since starred in a range of films including, Mero Euta Saathi Cha (2009) and Chhadke (2014).
Apart from acting in movies, she also occasionally works at her own restaurant called Attic in Lazimpat, Kathmandu. 2005–2007: Beginnings
2008–present
In 2008, Shrestha debuted her movie career in Sano Sansar where she played the lead role of Reetu.
After the release of Sano Sansar raised her profile, she was cast for Mero Euta Saathi Cha which was produced by Sudarshan Thapa and became a huge hit in 2009. In 2010, Shrestha appeared in two movies.
She appeared briefly as a cameo in the film First Love and as a sponsor in a short film for Human Immunodeficiency Virus Aids Awareness.
Later that year she debuted in her first theater performance, Jalpari. In 2011, she acted as the main character Carol in the theater production of Oleanna. In 2012, in the movie Mission U, Shrestha played the character Jasmine alongside Dilip Rayamajhi & Varun SJB Rana.
In 2013, she appeared in the much awaited Nepali movie, Chhadke alongside Saugat Malla, Daya Hang Rai and Robin Tamang.
Chhadke, directed by debutant Nigam Shrestha, got mixed to negative reviews however overall the movie was commercially successful. Shrestha played the character Soli, an aggressive young woman involved in a local gang.
In September 2013, Maun was released. Maun is a story of two deaf and mute characters, Aman (played by Arpan Thapa) and Barsha (played by Shrestha).
The story is of the love between Aman and Barsha and the story unfolds Aman’s dark past
Foreign the preparation of this movie, Shrestha had training in sign language. The debut movie of Suraj Bhushal had created buzz in movie loving communities because of the story and the cast. In 2014, Shrestha was casted alongside Aaryan Sigdel as the onscreen couple for the blockbuster film November Rain.
In 2015, Shrestha starred in the film Soul Sister was released.
Shrestha played a dual character in the film. Shrestha sang a female version of the superhit Nepali song Bistarai Bistarai by Rohit John Chhettri in the movie Soul Sister.
The OST of the film was a hit throughout Nepal and the singing ability of Shrestha was highly acclaimed, however the one-man film itself was a huge failure. Currently, Shrestha is in the process of filming for Classic, which is due for release in 2016.
Following rumors circulating online blogs and websites that the Communication Minister Minendra Rijal asked Shrestha for a sexual favor in return for a National Award, Shrestha said in August, 2015: "The most saddening part is how news makers started blowing it up, creating baseless news with tabloid titles, which does not relate to the content.
..Don’t you think you should have some ethics? Do I even need to respond towards such baseless news from certain blog or politics behind it? I feel proud as an Artist and Film maker, but these kinds of news and news makers makes me question the profession..".
