Career
Formerly a VJ for MuchMusic from 1999 to 2003, she was later a host of National Basketball Association Extra Large and Canadian Football League Crunch on Rogers Sportsnet. Kiwanuka came to Canada with her family in 1983, following the Ugandan Civil War. She was given the Christian name Mary, which she used while attending Ryerson University in Toronto in the mid-1990s, where she was in the journalism program
With a desire to give a voice to and document the lives of the vulnerable, Nam is currently traveling the world with her video camera as a freelance journalist.
Nam’s writing has been published in international publications and she’s been featured in Maclean’s magazine. Was named one of the 20 most beautiful Canadians and in May 2008, was honored as one to watch by Chatelaine magazine in the publication’s 80th anniversary issue.
