She is a regular contributor to all Columbia Broadcasting System News programs and platforms. She is a graduate of Punahou School in Honolulu and a Phi Beta Kappa and magna cum laude graduate of the University of Pennsylvania in 1995. Cordes received a master"s degree in public policy at Princeton University"s Woodrow Wilson School of Public and International Affairs.
Prior to joining Columbia Broadcasting System News in 2007, Cordes was an American Broadcasting Company News correspondent based in New York (2005-2007), where she reported for all American Broadcasting Company News programs and covered many major news stories, including Hurricane Katrina, the war in Iraq, and the 2004 election.
Before that, she was a Washington-based correspondent for NewsOne, the affiliate news service of American Broadcasting Company News (2003-2004). Prior to joining American Broadcasting Company News, Cordes was a reporter for WJLA-television in Washington, District of Columbia (1999-2003), where she covered the September 11 attack on the Pentagon, the 2000 Presidential race, the District of Columbia-area sniper attacks, and peacekeeping efforts in Bosnia.
She began her career as a reporter for KHNL-television in Honolulu (1995-1997).
