In 1929, Nandlal Ghosh graduated from Calcutta University as an Honoured Bachelor of Science. In 1931, he received the Master of Science Degree there. In 1951, Nandlal became Philosophy Doctor.
Nandlal Ghosh carried out research in problems of equilibrium under self-gravitation and was a specialist in applied mathematics. In 1933-1951, Nandlal Ghosh was a lecturer in mathematics at Ripon College in Calcutta. In 1951-1952, he was Senior Research Fellow at the National Institute of Sciences of India. Since 1952, Professor and Head of Mathematics Department at Presidency College.
Nandlal Ghosh was fellow of the National Institute of Sciences of India and a member of Calcutta Mathematical Society, Indian Science Congress Association, Indian Society of Theoretical and Applied Mechanics, Indian Astronomical Society, Indian National Committee for Mathematics (1962-1964).
