Career
He worked for the cause of restoration of the Imperial regime together with his elder brother, Kizaemon. He was connected with the affairs of Namamugi and Teradaya and fought in the war between his clan and British warships (1863). After the Meiji Restoration (1868), he served in the government. For a long period since 1892, he was governor of Okinawa Prefecture.
