Though he was crowned king of Vijayanagara Empire, the real power lay in the hands of the empire"s able commander Tuluva Narasa Nayaka until his death in 1503. In 1505, Narasimha Raya II was murdered in Penukonda and Vira Narasimha Raya proclaimed himself king.
