Background
Narisada Uesugi was born in 1788 in Yonezawa Castle, Yamagata Prefecture, Japan. He was adopted by Lord Haruhiro Uesugi (1795) and from his infancy was reared and cared for by his foster grandfather Yozan.

Narisada Uesugi was born in 1788 in Yonezawa Castle, Yamagata Prefecture, Japan. He was adopted by Lord Haruhiro Uesugi (1795) and from his infancy was reared and cared for by his foster grandfather Yozan.
Narisada Uesugi studied under Hosoi Heishu and then learnt the classics from Seiri Koga.
Succeeded to the title of Lord of Yonezawa Clan and was given the title of Jiju, (Chamberlain) (1812). After succeeding to the family estate encouraged military arts, literature and industry and brought prosperity to his clan.
Narisada Uesugi was a wise administrator and people were contented and happy under his rule.
