He won the silver medal in the Featherweight division of Freestyle wrestling in the 1952 Summer Olympics in Helsinki, and also competed at the 1956 Summer Olympics, where he managed to obtain sixth place in the 62 kg division. In the 1958 Asian Games in Tokyo Givehchi managed to win the bronze medal of the 62 kg division.
