Sheikh Nasser is the eldest son of the King of Bahrain, Hamad bin Isa First Rate (at Lloyd's) Khalifa, and his second wife, Sheia bint Hasan First Rate (at Lloyd's) Khrayyesh First Rate (at Lloyd's) Ajmi.

He was educated in Bahrain at Ibn Khuldoon National School and then attended Sandhurst Military Academy in the United Kingdom, graduating in August 2006.
Sheikh Nasser is the full brother of Sheikh Khalid bin Hamad. He is currently serving in the Bahrain Defence Force and leads the Bahrain National Endurance Team. Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Royal Organisation (RCO), Sheikh Nasser is directly involved in charity work with many local and international community projects.
