1896 graduate Moscow Women's High-School.
After graduate worked as a teacher at a private school for the deaf in Moscow. 1900 founded first Russian nursery for deaf children. 1915 organized courses for the mothers and tutors of deaf preschool children in Moscow.
1915-1921 taught at various nurseries for deaf children. 1922, together with her husband F. A. Rau, founded the Moscow Lip-Reading Club. 1925-1947 associate, Defectological Department, Pedagogical Faculty, 2nd Moscow University (now Lenin Teachers’ Training Institute).
Wrote numerous works on the training of deaf children and devised several teaching aids. Also did research on teaching lip-reading to adults with acquired deafness.
