Ordained to ministry Congressional Church, 1812. Minister First Church of Christ, New Haven, 1812-1822. Dwight professor didactic theology Yale Division School, 1822-1858, his theology upheld principle of freedom of will and split Congressional churches into “Taylorites” and “Tylerites” (who upheld traditional doctrine of free will as an illusion).
Contributed articles chiefly to Christian Spectator, Spirit of the Pilgrims.
