IDEL’SON, Naum was born on March 14, 1885.
Professor, Leningrad University and senior associate, Pulkovo Observatory. 1941-1943 ed, Astronomicheskiy yezhegodnik USSR (Astronomical Yearbook of the Union of the Soviet Socialist Republics), for which he wrote two papers on reduction values and basic constants in astronomy. Did research on the motion of Encke and Michain-Toutle’s comets.
Wrote monographs on the theory of potential, the least squares method and the history of the calendar, as well as biographies of Copernicus, Galileo, Newton, Lagrange, Clairaut and Lobachevskiy.
