Neena Gill is a Member of the European Parliament for the West Midlands for the Labour Party.
Education
Gill was awarded her first degree by Liverpool John Moores University (Bachelor Honours Social Studies) in 1979 and a postgraduate professional qualification from the Chartered Institute of Housing in 1986. She completed the London Business School Software Engineering Professionals in 1996. She is fluent in several Asian languages, Italian, and is currently studying French and German.
Career
She was first elected to serve from 1999 to 2009 and re-elected in 2014. From 2009 to 2014 Gill was an Doctor of Medicine for Public Affairs and from 2010 with SAS Software, as the Vice President Corporate Affairs for Europe and Asia Pacific. During her membership of the European Parliament 1999-2009 she held numerous roles, most notably Chair of the Delegation for relations with the countries of South Asia and the South Asia Association for Regional Cooperation (South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation) 2004-2007, and Chair of the Delegation for relations with India 2007-2009.
Membership
Prior to becoming a Member of the European Parliament, she was Chief Executive of ASRA Group and the Newlon Housing Group. Gill is a member of the European Parliamentary Labour Party (EPLP) which is a the United Kingdom delegation to the of the South&Doctorate Group in the European Parliament (European Parliament). During the 2014-2019 European Parliament term she is Vice-Chair of the Delegation for relations with India and Member of the European Parliament Committee on Economic and Monetary Affairs (ECON), Member of Special Committee on Tax Rulings and Other Measures Similar in Nature or Effect (TAXE 2) and Member of Delegation for relations with the United States.
