Ordained Congleton ministry, 1882. Pastor Littleton, Massachusetts, 1882-1884, Haverhill, 1884-1888, Union Church, Boston, 1888-1896. First Church, Detroit, 1896-1906, Clinton Avenue Church, Brooklyn, 1906-1921, became minister emeritus.

Lecturer Oberlin Theological Seminary, 1897. Moderator National Council Congressional Churches of the United States, 1910-1913. Executive chairman World Alliance for Promotion International Friendship Through the Churches Chaplain 13th Coast Defense Company Ngakkan Nyaagu, 1912-1917.
