He was Artistic Director of the New End Theatre, Hampstead, from 1996–1997, and has been the Artistic Director of the Finborough Theatre, London, since January 1999. He was named one of The Hospital Club 100 by Time Out and The Hospital Club in 2012. He has produced over two hundred productions and co-productions with his production company Concordance.
His acting roles included John Osborne in A Better Class of Person for Thames television As a playwright, his plays include a verbatim theatre play on the Armenian Genocide, I Wish To Die Singing – Voices From The Armenian Genocide which played at the Finborough Theatre from 21 April to 16 May 2015, and is published by Oberon Books, and Mumpers Dingle, an adaptation of George Borrow"s novels Lavengro and The Romany Rye, presented at Brompton Cemetery Chapel in 2003.
He trained as an actor at the Central School of Speech and Drama and was a member of the National Youth Theatre for seven years.
