Career
He played all or part of twelve seasons in Major League Baseball for the Saint Louis Cardinals (1936), Philadelphia Athletics (1938-1941 and 1948), Boston Red Sox (1941), Saint Louis Browns (1943-1948) and Boston Braves (1948-1949). He led the American League in earned runs allowed, with (144) in 1939. Potter was a screwball pitcher.
Potter died in his hometown of Mount Morris at the age of 79.
