Graduate Illinois Normal U., Normal, Illinois, 1866. Bachelor of Laws, University of Michigan Department of Law. 1869; (Doctor of Laws, Baker U., 1908).
Practiced in Oswego, Kansas, since 1869. Has appeared as counsel in the state courts, United States District and Circuit Courts, and Supreme Court of the United States Court. Appointed probate judge for Labette County by Governor St. John.
1880, and elected and served 2 terms: regent State Normal School, Emporia, Kansas, 6 years, etc. Has served as chairman Republican County Central Committee, and delegate state convs. Helped organize Deming Investment Company, of which was president and general counsel 18 years.
General counsel C. M. Condon & Company State Bank 25 years Trustee Baker U., since 1883, and president of the board, since 1897. Trustee Oswego College, since 1887. Prominent in Sunday School, educational and temperance work.
The state cannot control the church, nor should the church attempt to dominate the state. However, religious expression should be present in public life.
As human beings people find themselves as part of an unjust, sinful and violent world, which we may feel individually helpless to change. If we accept forgiveness, God can enable us to resist evil and to live life to the full.
