Nembutsu Jube was born in 1818, Shiga Prefecture, Japan.
When Commodore Matthew Perry’s American fleet arrived in Japan (1848), the Japanese offered him some tea processed by Jube. Perry said that kind of tea and raw silk would be the commodities the United States would wish most to import if trade was opened between the two countries. JQbe’s tea store became famous after this incident. He also contributed to the promotion of industry and welfare of his native place.
