Edelby, Néophytos Elias was born on November 10, 1920 in Aleppo, Syria. Son of Abdallah and Lucie (Potoukian) Edelby.

Education

Doctor in Civil Law and Canon Law, Latran University, Rome.

Career

Professor St. Anne's Seminary, Jerusalem, 1950-1953. Principal St. John the Apostle College, Beirut, Lebanon, 1953-1959. Consecrated bishop, 1962.

Advisor to Cardinal Maximos VI Saïgh, 1963-1967. Consecrated Archbishop of Aleppo, since 1968. Founder Arabic Christian Heritage.

Chairman Liturgy Commission, Ecumenical Melkite Commission.
