1931 graduate Belorussian State Music Technicum. 1932-1935 and 1947-1950 studied at Belorussian Slate Conservatory.
From 1918 with Teravskiy's “Belorussian Hut” Choir, Minsk. 1921-1923 chorist with Ukraine touring company. Also performed at Tumanov Theater.
From 1926 choirmaster, Vladislav Golubka’s Belorussian touring drama theater. 1937-1941 choirmaster, Belorussian State Song arid Dance Ensemble. 1941-1944 for a while worked at a factory in Chuvash Autonomous Soviet Socialist Republic, then served in Soviet Army with guards units.
Wounded and demobilized. Artistic director, Belorussian State Song and Dance Ensemble. From 1944 head, Department of Amateur Artistic Activities, Belorussian Arts Board and artistic director, Belorussian Folk Art Center.
From 1946 ed, Musical Department, Belorussian State Publ House. In late 1940’s criticized by Party, especially for his “Song of Neman” (1942) and for “nationalistic deviations” in other works. Expelled from Belorussian Composers’ Union.
Later reinstated in union. 1944 composed Stale Anthem of Belorussian Soviet Socialist Republic - “We Are Belorussians”. IForAs: romances: “Cradle Song”.
