Background

Hawley, Newton Fremont was born on November 28, 1859 in near Tipton. Iowa. Son of Newton J. and Delia (Canfield) Hawley.

Education

Bachelor of Arts, Iowa (now Grinnell) College, 1879. A.M., 1882.

Career

Admitted to Minnesota bar, 1884. Associate with W. J. Hahn, attorney general of Minnesota, 1892, as Hahn & Hawley, later Hahn, Belden & Hawley, and Belden, Hawley & Jamison. Retired from practice of law, January 1, 1906, to become trustee of Farmers & Mechanics Savings Bank of Minneapolis, later managing executive under title of treasurer.

Vice president Equitable Loan Company.
