Some of his more well known roles include the lead in Brian Friel"s Uncle Vanya, for which he won an Irish Times Award and an Olivier Award for Dead Funny. He won the Clarence Derwent award the Obie Time out and Drama desk for Aristocrats and the best performance uk theatre awards for Juno and the Paycock. In 1995, Buggy won the Olivier award for Best Performance for Dead Funny.
