Background

Nichira was born in Japan.

Career

Nichira settled in Kudara, a sovereign state in Korea, during the reign of Emperor Senka. It is said that when Emperor Bitatsu ascended the throne and tried to restore Mimaiia (Colony of Japan in Korea) which had been destroyed by Shiragi (another sovereign state in Korea) he made Nichira a consultant and gave him a residence in Kawachi Province (583). He was later killed by his enemies. Prince Shotoku is said to have been one of his pupils.
