Founder of Corinthian Football Club, the London Football Association, and actively assisted in the formation of the Lawn Tennis Association. Was for some years Honourable Assistant Secretary of the Football Association, and afterwards Vice-President of that body.
Served on committee of London Athletic Club. Was for many years one of the two referees and handicappers at the chief lawn tennis tournaments in the United Kingdom, and was the first referee at most of Continental lawn tennis tournaments. Founder of the Stoke Poges Club.
