Gross played for Seton Hall"s women's soccer team In 2009, she was named Big East Player of the Week and earned Most Valuable Player honors at the 2009 Saint John"s Tournament. Gross received a bachelor of science degree in biology.
She then worked as a graduate manager for Monmouth University"s men’s basketball team during the 2012-2013 season while working on her Master of Business Administration degree.
The Iowa Energy are the affiliate of the Memphis Grizzlies. At the time of her hiring, Gross was the only female assistant coach in the National Basketball Association Doctorate-League. Summer 2015 also saw Becky Hammon get hired by the National Basketball Association"s San Antonio Spurs as an assistant coach, while Nancy Lieberman, the former Doctorate-League head coach and general manager of the Texas Legends, became an assistant coach for the National Basketball Association"s Sacramento Kings.
Gross initially entered the as the Assistant Video Coordinator for the Bakersfield Jam, the affiliate of the Phoenix Suns.
She remained in Bakersfield through the 2013-2014 Doctorate-League season.
