Nicola Bealing was educated in England and Malaysia. She then studied at the Byam Shaw School of Art in London, from 1984–1987.

Bealing"s work is said to be unique for its imaginative nature, and reporters have called Bealing"s creativity as "enjoying absurdity and herd-like behavior."
She participated in the Foundation Course, at Hertfordshire College of Art and Design in 1983. Since her first solo exhibition at Christie’s Education in London in 1991, Bealing"s work has been featured in solo and group exhibitions throughout England, Denmark, and Luxembourg. In the last few years, Bealing has had numerous solo exhibitions at Cadogan Contemporary in London, Beaux Arts in Bath, Campden Gallery in Chipping, Campden, and the Cath Alexandrine Danneskiold-Samsoe Gallery in Copenhagen.
Bealing"s work is also housed in a number of important private collections.

Bealing"s artistic journey through North Vietnam was featured in Channel 4"s "Inside Art” film series.
1992: Bealing won first prize at the South West Open Exhibition. 1995: Bealing won the Boite Postale Portrait Award at the National Portrait Gallery 1995: First Prizewinner at the Millfield Open Exhibition 1995: Gallery Prizewinner at the Discerning Eye, Mall Galleries, in London 1999: Meynell Fenton Prize Winner, Meynell Fenton Prize 2007: Bealing became an Academian of the Royal West Academy (RWA) 2008: Bealing"s work was "Highly commended" at the National Open Art Competition. 2009: Bealing was appointed to the Newlyn Society of Artists. 2013: Winner of the Thread needle Prize.
