Nicolas Browne

Born 30 March 1930) is a former Senior Lord of Appeal in Ordinary in the United Kingdom and former Head of the Privy Council and Vice-Chancellor of the High Court. He was made a Lord of Appeal in Ordinary and was created a life peer as Baron Browne-Wilkinson, of Camden in the London Borough of Camden, on 1 October 1991. He retired from the House of Lords on 1 March 2016.
Lord Browne-Wilkinson delivered the Privy Council rulings for Tan Te Lam v Superintendent of Tai A Chau Detention Centre (a Vietnamese refugee centre in Hong Kong and under British administration when the incident occurred) in 1997.
The rulings have since been used in immigration cases globally.
