In his total of 4 years (1993-1996) of playing with Michigan State, he had a total of 81 receptions, 1,413 receiving yards, and 10 touchdowns. Carter"s first choice for college was the University of Tennessee not Michigan State. He was going to go there on a football scholarship but Carter concluded by saying "I thought it over and concluded that I really felt more comfortable at Michigan State.''

In October 29, 1994 v. Indiana, Nigea caught a 93 pass reception to the touchdown. Carter was the 197 pick in round six of the 1997 by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
Unfortunately Nigea never played a down for the Buccaneers due to injury.
