In 1983 Mr. Aulov joined the police of Leningrad. Since 1988 was an employee of the 6th Department of the Central Internal Affairs Directorate of Leningrad (struggle against organized crime).
Aulov was one of the founders of the St. Petersburg Office for Combating Organized Crime (RUBOP). He initiated the investigation of criminal cases against St. Petersburg criminal authorities such as Alexander Malyshev, Vladislav Kirpichev (Kirpich), Ruslan Kolyak (Goggle-eyed) and others.
Since November 1998 he worked as Deputy Chief of the North-Western RUBOP; led the liquidation of the gang of Yuri Shutov.
On May 26, 1999, A. was assassinated and wounded (the case is not solved). In June 1999 he was transferred to the Moscow Department of Internal Affairs, then to the Department for Combating Organized Crime and Terrorism of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation, where he headed the "T" Center.
Since November 2006 he worked as the Chief of the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation for the Central District. On June 18, 2008, he was appointed Deputy Director of the Federal Drug Control Service of the Russian Federation and Head of the Operative-Search Department of the Federal Drug Control Service of the Russian Federation.
