Active revolutionary as a soldier during World War I. Head of the troika (tribunal) of the Cheka during the early years of Soviet power in Belorussia, 1921-1924. Member of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Belorussia, 1924. Secretary of the Central Committee 1925-1927.
Head of government of Belorussia, 1927-1937. Disappeared during Stalin’s purges, probably shot.
