Grandson of the Cossack general P. Krasnov. Emigrated with his parents after the defeat of the Whites in the Civil War. During World War II, junior officer in the Cossack corps with his father and grandfather.
Handed over to SMERSH in 1945 in Lienz. Spent over 10 years in the Gulag, 1945-1956. Released, and left for Sweden.
Settled in Argentina. Wrote one of the most harrowing eye-witness accounts of the handover of the Cossacks to SMERSH by the British military authorities, of the pre-trial life of his relatives and colleagues at arms in Lubianka prison in Moscow, 1945-1946, and of life in the Gulag camps. His book, Nezabyvaemoe, was published in 1957.
