Nikolai Dmitrievich graduated from Novo-Kurlak secondary school (silver medal, 1944-1954). He graduated from Naval Department at the Leningrad Engineering and Construction Institute (Leningrad 1954-1957). Nikolai Dmitrievich was transferred to the mechanical department of the Leningrad Engineering and Construction Institute (1957-1959). He graduated from the extension department Leningrad Optical-Mechanical Institute (1968-1971).
In 1959-1962 an engineer, a senior engineer at the All-Union Research Institute of the peat industry (Saint Petersburg). In 1963-1984, a senior design engineer; a head of the production of optics at the Research Institute of Semiconductor Engineering Voronezh Scientific-Production Association "Electronics".
