25 December 1934 charged with membership of oppositional Zinov’yevite group, an alleged counterrevol terrorist group and part of terrorist and counterrevol "Leningrad Center,” the purpose of which was to force Communist Party and Soviet regime to change their policies so as to conform to the Zinov’yev-Trotskyist platform. Also accused of complicity in 1 December 1934 assassination of South. M. Kirov-Presidium member, Union of the Soviet Socialist Republics Central Executive Committee. Political Bureau member, Central Committee, All-Union Communist Party (Bolsheviks).
Secretary, Central Committee, All-Union Communist Party (Bolsheviks). Secretary, Leningrad Oblast and Leningrad City All-Union Communist Party (Bolsheviks) Committee. 29 December 1934 sentenced to death by Assizes of Military Collegium, Union of the Soviet Socialist Republics Supreme Court.
