1895-1902 assistant director, Botanical Garden. From 1900 associate professor, Yur’yev University. 1902-1912 conserver, Saint St. Petersburg Botanical Garden, simultaneously lectured at various Saint St. Petersburg higher educational establishments.
From 1909 professor, from 1918 head Chair of Botanical Geography, Saint St. Petersburg (Leningrad) University. 1912-1931 simultaneously senior botanist.
