Along with A. A. Morozov and I. Ya. Kotin ranked as one of top Soviet tank designers. 1939 helped to develop KV (Klim Voroshilov and KV-2 heavy tanks, an updated version of which, the KV-85, was produced in 1943.
1944 produced an improved version, the Instruction Section (Iosif Stalin), which was succeeded by the Instruction Section-2, 1S-3 and Instruction Section-4. Designed self-propelled cannon and howitzers based on the KV, International Skating Union-122, 1SU-152 and other tank chassis.
