1922-1923 attended Marxism courses, Communist Academy.
Tailor by trade; 1911 in Moscow joined in strike at the tailor’s workshop where he was working. 1912 helped found a Social-Democratic Bolshevik circle. through which he joined the Russian Social-Democratic Workers ’Party (Bolsheviks). April 1912 took part in major tailor assistants’ protest demonstration in Moscow.
Helped found Moscow Tailors’ Union and a number of other trade unions (woodworkers’, tanners’, plumbers’, etc). Repeatedly arrested, sentenced and exiled from Moscow. March 1917 served with Kostroma Reserve Infantry Regt and elected member, Soviet of Soldiers’ Deputy after 1917 October Revol military comissar, Kostroma Province.
Helped crush Yaroslavl’ Mutiny and revolts in Vetluga and Varnavino Uyezds. 1919 on orders of Central Committee, All-Union Communist Party (Bolsheviks) sent to 14th Army, Southwestern Front, and formed a separate infantry brigade. As comissar of this brigade, fought against Denikin until late 1919.
1920-1921 military comissar, Chernigov Province. From 1921 government work: chairman, Chernigov, then Penza Province Executive Committee. Late 1923-1934 Party work: secretary, Novo-Nikolayevsk Province All-Union Communist Party (Bolsheviks) Committee.
Secretary, Omsk Okrug All-Union Communist Party (Bolsheviks) Committee. Instructor, Central Committee, All-Union Communist Party (Bolsheviks). Secretary, Astrakhan’ Okrug All-Union Communist Party (Bolsheviks) Committee.
Secretary, Moscow Lenin (former Zamoskvorcch’ye) Rayon All-Union Communist Party (Bolsheviks) Committee. Chairman Moscow City Control Commission, Workers and Peasants’ Inspectorate. From February 1934 chairman, Moscow Oblast Executive Committee.
Member, Union of the Soviet Socialist Republics Central Executive Committee and Russian Soviet Federative Socialist Republic All-Russian Executive Committee of several convocations. Presidium member, All-Union Central Executive Committee. At the 17th All-Union Communist Party (Bolsheviks) Congress elected candidate member, Central Committee, All-Union Communist Party (Bolsheviks).
Arrested by State Security organs.
