1915 graduate Petrograd Mining Institute.
1908-1910 topographer, Kamchatka expedition of Russian Geographic Social. 1917-1922 worked for Ural Mining Institute, Sverdlovsk (1919-1920 as rector). From 1922 member, Russian Geographic Social.
From 1923 professor, Leningrad Mining Institute. From 1947 director, Laboratory of Aerial Survey Methods, Union of the Soviet Socialist Republics Academy of Sciences. Specialized in the development of aerial photogrammctric methods for the compilation of geographic and geodetic maps.
Correspondent member, Union of the Soviet Socialist Republics Academy of Sciences from 1946.
