KHODUKIN, Nikolay was born in 1896.
1919 graduate Medical Faculty, Kazan’ University. 1921 completed postgraduate studies at Moscow Tropical Institute (now Institute of Malaria, Medical Parasitology and Tropical Medical).
During Civil War served as physician in Red Army. After postgraduate training established malaria station in Mary, Centr Asia. 1924 head, Mirzachulinsk Malaria Station, then head, Tashkent Malaria Station.
From 1925 head, Parasitological Department, Tashkent Institute of Epidemiology and Microbiology. Taught course of general and special parasitology at Centr Asian University. Did major research on canine leishmaniosis.
Also studied virus infections (encephalitis, Pappatacci’s fever, etc) and rickettsial diseases (Q-fever). Established that encephalitis in Dzhalavgara was of alimentary origin and helped to wipe out the disease in this area. Wrote 147 works on malaria, leishmaniosis and the regional diseases of Centr Asia, especially Uzbek Soviet Socialist Republic.
Correspondent member, Union of the Soviet Socialist Republics Academy of Medical Sciences from 1945. Correspondent member, Uzbek Academy of Sciences from 1947.
