Educated by parents.
Tramped through Russia and joined religious section His early works were written in the style of schismatic chants, religious verse and apocryphal writing. He then developed into a symbolist and led the ”neo-rustic" movement in poetry (South. Yesenin, South. Klychkov, P. Oreshin).
1917-1918 supported by ’’Scythian” group. Adhered to ancient Russian values and opposed urbanism and Western cultural influences. Held utopian views of future of Russian (”Number communes without stove-couches”) but welcomed certain aspects of the Revol.
Championed conservative Russian beliefs and institutions. Was criticized for opposing course of history and interpreting the Revol from a patriarchal and religious viewpoint. Influenced the early work of Yesenin and other ’’rustic” poets.
Arrested by State Security organs. Early 1930's exiled to Siberia.
