Nikolay KOZYREV, USSR Astrophysicist. Doctor of Physico-Mathematical Science since 1948; Professor, Pokrovsky Pedagogical Institute, Leningrad, since 1931; senior associate, Main Astronomical Observatory, USSR Academy of Science, Pulkovo, since 1931.
KOZYREV, Nikolay was born in 1908 in St. Petersburg.
Advanced theory of structure of attenuated stellar atmospheres, which accounted for a number of the characteristics of hot stars. Formulated new cosmogonic theory which postulates that the mathematical value representing the “passage of time” represents a constant source of energy. Repudiates, however, the current concept that the energy emitted by stars originates from thermonuclear reactions occurring in the stars themselves.
1958 discovered active lunar volcano and Aurora Borealis on Venus. Since 1931 instructor in marine astronomy, Frunze Naval College, and Assistant Chair of Mathematics, Leningrad Institute of Transport Engineers. 1936 arrested and later rehabilitated.
